I participated in the alpha, beta, and then the full game and looking back not much changed. Probably not a popular choice considering how popular the game has become, but Destiny has certainly earned my number two spot.įirst of all, I got burned with this game and believe that it mislead everyone who was interested in it. The game released with dated graphics, it was clunky, seemed to want to be unnecessarily offensive, and the repetitiveness of Duke’s catch phrases could make anyone never want to touch it again. If you love loud, over the top games with next to no substance, then you may actually enjoy Duke Nukem Forever for a couple of hours. The game that tries to cash in on past successes, Duke Nukem Forever fell flat when it released back in 2011, and comes in at number three. The sequel, Homefront: The Revolution, released in 2016 to a host of mediocre review scores. The game simply failed to capture the gameplay of similar FPS titles, and featured a lacklustre, seemingly tacked-on multiplayer mode, much like the previous game in this list. HomefrontĪgain, not one of the worst first-person shooters on the list, just not by any means fantastic.Īn attempt at emulating games like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty, Homefront focuses on the threat of Korea taking over the United States. Boring missions, uninspired locations and flat line delivery all help to make Wolfenstein (2009) number five.
Blazkowicz, whereas he felt lifeless here. The New Order nailed the bad-ass character of B.J. The game does’t have the atmosphere, gameplay, or personality of the more recent Wolfenstein: The New Order made by MachineGames, and fails to live up to the older games in the series. The sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein definitely isn’t the worst game on this list, it just always felt like it was lacking something. Wolfenstein (2009)ĭeveloped by the recently successful studio Raven Software, Wolfenstein (2009) was not really worth the effort. Here is my top 5 list of the worst first-person shooters. There will most likely be worse games out there in the genre, but these are some that I’ve had the displeasure of experiencing. Failing to meet hype and expectation, the misuse of a well known franchise, and simply boring gameplay are all factors as to whether the games listed below deserve their place. There are a lot of great first-person shooter games out there, but what are some of the not so great ones? The games on this list have earned it in multiple ways.
